All employers in the U.S. are required to verify their employees' work eligibility using the Form I-9. A new form was released in April. It is anticipated that employers will see an increase in I-9 audits as a result of the federal government's focus on illegal immigration. Employers are encouraged to take proactive measures now to reduce their risk of non-compliance.
Join employment attorney Mindi Wells of Wells Law, LLC on June 3 to learn more about using Form I-9 and avoiding common mistakes -- before you get audited!
This session will include:
- Overview of the I-9 process
- Common mistakes such as failing to store the forms separately and failing to complete the form timely and accurately
- Re-verification and rehires
- To copy or not to copy supporting documents
- Storing and when to purge I-9's
- Best Practices
