The Logan County History Center will be celebrating Indian Lake history with a “Salute to Indian Lake” open house on Sunday, April 7th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm in honor of the 100th anniversary of the opening of Sandy Beach Amusement Park on Decoration Day (Memorial Day), 1924. There will be exhibits throughout the Museum highlighting the amusement park and other aspects of Indian Lake area’s history from its time as the hunting and fishing grounds of American Indians, to its days as a reservoir for the canal system, to the present. We will be partnering with the Indian Lake Area Historical Society with many of the exhibits. The open house will also feature a new exhibit entitled “Natural Phenomena in Logan County” in anticipation of the Total Solar Eclipse the following day on April 8th. This eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse to pass over this part of Ohio since 1806! The exhibits will feature this past eclipse, tornadoes, earthquakes, meteors, and more that have affected Logan County and its residents over the years.
